- The University of Toledo, North Engineering, room NE 1022 (first floor)
- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
- Open Source, Shmopen Source!
How do I get there?
See the map. :) Parking is in lot 19, just west of the North Engineering building.
See also UT's page on department locations and facilities.
Apologies for changing the room again so quickly, but this room is easier to get to than our previous one, and it's the more appropriate one, as far as the college is concerned. Sorry for any inconvenience.
This is the final topic in our "back to school" season. This time, we'll be answering the question new users to Linux have: What is "open source?"
We'll be discussing the pros and cons to open source and its similarities and differences to free and proprietary/closed source software.
TALUG provides free Linux and other open-source software distribution CDs free of charge. Please let us know in advance, and we can bring some media to the meeting for you.
A thank you also goes to Ashley, the current president of UT's ACM group, who reserves the room for us at the college each month, and also to everyone else who shows up at our meetings. You guys are why we're still alive. :)
